Results from our #SeptemberSavings survey into the costs of extracurricular activities for children reveals that 69% of parents spend over €500 a year on extracurricular sports activities for each child, an important but often over-looked cost that comes to the fore when children go back to school in September.
To tie in with the research results, we are offering €30 cash back on sports club fees to all new and renewing customers throughout the month of September. Click here for more information.
The research reveals that 17% of parents sign their child up for one extracurricular activity a year, while 43% will sign their child up for two activities a year. A further 27% said that they would be paying for as many as three after school activities for their child while 6% say they will sign them up for over four activities. While 67% say that their child’s enthusiasm for the activity is the main factor when choosing extracurricular activities, nearly one third say that the health and fitness benefits associated with participating are a key reason for signing them up.
Speaking at the launch of our #SeptemberSavings campaign, Mairead Ronan, radio and TV broadcaster says: “As a mum, September is always a month of extra costs and so I think it’s a great idea to reward parents for investing in their child’s health and well-being”.
