We were delighted to be involved again in this year’s GloHealth Mullaghmore Triathlon. We had a great weekend in the breathtaking surroundings of Mullaghmore village in Sligo on Saturday 20th June. The day was great success with over 300 people taking part, including some of Ireland’s top athletes who took on the challenging sprint course including a 750 meter swim, 20 km cycle and a 5km run.
Sligo’s own Ciaran Mc Closkey and Belfast’s Heather Foley claimed the top titles on Saturday. Ciaran, a member of the local Sligo TC, completed the gruelling course in a time of 1:03:50, while the fastest female, Heather Foley of the Hi-Elbow TC in Belfast, crossed the finish line in 1:08:02. Caoimhe Ni Mhurchu also from Sligo Triathlon Club was second lady over the line.
Husband and wife powerhouse, Niamh and Graeme Stein had double cause for celebration, both achieving podium places. Graeme was the second man to cross the finish line with a time of 1:04:48 just ahead of Raymond Byrne while Niamh completed the course in a time of 1:16:43 to claim third place.
Now in its 15th year the GloHealth Mullaghmore Triathlon, one of the most popular in the triathlon calendar continues to go from strength to strength, with competitors and spectators alike guaranteed a day of high adrenaline action.
A huge congratulations to everyone who took part, especially our own GloHealth team!
