GloHealth and David Gillick Run for Baby Elizabeth Fund

GloHealth and David Gillick Run for Baby Elizabeth Fund

Former European champion sprinter David Gillick led the field at a special fundraising 5km run for baby Elizabeth Soffe at Marley Park last Saturday.

The recently retired Gillick, who is the Irish record holder at the 400m discipline and the winner of two successive European Indoor titles in 2005 and 2007, turned out to show his support for a 9 month old Irish baby who suffered a terrible tragedy in Doha, Qatar, in May this year.

Baby Elizabeth was involved in an incident where an air conditioning unit caught fire in the room while the baby slept in her cot. She suffered terrible injuries and has since been moved to the Birmingham Children’s Hospital where she is receiving specialist treatment. Little Elizabeth will need to stay in hospital for possibly a year and will need ongoing care for the rest of her life. The Baby Elizabeth Fund has been set up to help with the costs of her future care.
